As wedding photographers, we have been to beaches, resorts, forests, hilltops, and farms, but never to the top of a volcanic mountain. This wedding has helped to tick off the bucket list.
Krissie and Zoe booked out a stunning house to get ready with their close friends, a house with a magnificent view of the mountains which had absolutely no trace of snow anywhere. It was a hot summer after all. Everyone then hopped on the gondola and headed straight up to the top for the wedding ceremony. This was our first time on the gondola at Whakapapa, and now we can understand why it is such a popular tourist attraction.
With the border still closed from covid, there were no tourists in sight, and we had pretty much the whole mountain top to ourselves for the ceremony. This provided the perfect atmosphere for such an intimate wedding. There was just so much laughter and giggles. The fog rolled in as well to add even more moodiness and that sense of awesomeness to the overall experience. Talk about epic mountain wedding photography. At one stage, we could barely see the person in front of us.
I hope you can see just how unique Krisse and Zoe rainbow wedding really was. This is why I love small weddings, odd, unique, personalised, and truly epic.
